Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding Mower Kill Switch, briggs and stratton, hp briggs

I have an 8 hp Briggs and Stratton powered riding mower that works when I disconnect the ignistion switch from the engine. But then it is hard to turn the engine off. What do you suggest for troubleshooting this problem?

What is you mower model number?   Sounds like a safety switch may be causing the engine not to run.  When you dis-connect the switch you are isolating the ignition system and the mower will run.

Let me know the brand of the mower and the model number.
