Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): featherlite 1500 gas blower, recoil spring, warranty repair

Question
i have a weed eater featherlite  1500 gas blower it has been working fine for me, then today i couldnt get it to start at all.  My husband put in a new spark plug and he said it wasnt fireing. Then my son tried to start it and the cord wouldnt go back in.  What the heck is going on?   can you help me with this?? I have only had it about 3 months, i guess i could take it back to walmart that is if i can find the receipt. my email adress is jrenae48@yahoo. Thanks, Renae

Answer
The first thing to check with starting is the fuel/oil mix.  Make sure the fuel/oil mix is less than 30 days old.  Drain all old fuel and replace with fresh fuel/oil mix.

The string recoil spring or pulley may have broke.  The repair procedures are not that difficult but to get to the spring and pulley you have to dis-assemble the entire blower.

If you purchased the blower with a credit card you can sometimes use the credit card statement as the receipt.

The unit should still be under warranty but like you said you will need the reciept or your registration proof to submit for warranty repair.
