Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): BS carburetor, delivery problem, fuel delivery

Question
I have a log splitter powered by a BS engine (model 12f702,type1712d1, code 01052156) with what must be the simplest carberetor ever. So much so that when foreign matter got into it a month or so ago. I was able to clean all the pathways (at least those associated with the main "jet")without even taking it off the engine. Today the same thing happened again only this time cleaning out the various orifices didn't fix the problem. The bowl fills, the horizontal and vertical passageways in the brassnut/jet that hold the bowl on are clean. As is the passageway from there up to the throat of the carbuetor. It will run as long as I keep squirting gas into the carb air intake. With something so simple it's hard to imagine what else could be involved. It was runnning fine and just stopped, leaving me to believe some more foreign matter had found its way into the plumbing. Your take?

Carb Test Chart.
Hey Henry,

No matter how simple your carb may appear, the carburetor does get in the way if it's not properly

operating, doesn't it?

How did any foreign matter get inside the fuel/carb system? That would be my big concern.

In any case you can trouble shoot the carb operation by following the attached chart.

Since you need to continually squirt gas into the carb to have it continue to work, it sounds like

you need to go through the checks to see if there is a fuel delivery problem.
