Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lawn mower 6.0, craftsman lawn mower, safety cable

Question
My lawnmower does not start. At first the engine would start and then die after 1-2 seconds. So, I bought a carb kit and replaced the items that needed replacing. Now the lawnmower won't even kick over. I then replaced the spark plug and still nothing. I checked to see if the safety cable was not pulling the cable far enough but that seems fine. I checked to see if there was spark and there is none. What is left to check?

Answer
No spark.  Check the ignition coil.  Remove the top engine shroud to access the coil.  You may need to remove the fuel tank and plastic covers to get to the metal engine shroud.

Once you have access to the coil, dis-connect the small wire.  Check for spark.  If you have spark the coil is fine and the switch or the safety/shut-off cable is not functioning properly.

Let me know what you find.
