Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor, craftsman lawn tractor, time tim

Question
42"  B&S engine 14.5 IC
Model#: 917.271530
Ser#: 031601B018064
Everything was fine, running working well, then all of a sudden - everytime I would release the clutch pedal, the engine would instantly cut out, even does this when it is in neutral.  It does the same thing when I move the lever to engage the blades.  It is as though both the pedal and lever are connected to a kill switch and each time they are released or engaged the engine cuts out.  If I push the clutch back in again, or disengage the blades, the engine comes back if it hasn't completely stalled out already.
Sound like a quick easy fix for a weekend handyman or will this require a pro repair ??
Thank you for your time.
Tim

Answer
I think you have a pretty simple fix.  I think the seat switch is bad.  This shuts the engine off if it doesn't sense weight in the seat when the clutch is released or the deck is engaged.

The part number is 121305X and I have it listed for $8.00.  Replacement is very simple.  Just unplug and unclip and replace.  Thanks, PK.
