Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl mini tiller, mini tiller, stihl mm55

Question
I have a Stihl MM55 and I did not winterize it. I got it out and it started and ran for a short time. I put fresh fuel in and it will not stay started when choked and won't start at all when not choked. Additionally the primer bulb seems to be totally full of gas and doesn't want to depress. Any ideas?

Thanks much

Roger

Answer
The carburetor will need to come apart and be rebuilt.  Use a new carb kit and soak the carb in cleaner for at least an hour.  Then chase all the holes with a fine wire and blow it out with air.  Also, go ahead and replace the fuel lines and the fuel filter.

It will help to never use fuel older than 3 weeks and never leave fuel in a tank for more than 3 weeks.  Also, always using a product like SeaFoam, Techron, ValveTect or others will cut down on problems.  Thanks, PK.
