Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring from the fuel bowl on a murray 17hp b&s, murray lawnmower, rear fenders

Question
Hello. I have a problem with my Murray lawnmower. It is a 99 model 17hp 42 inch cut and I have an over achieving dog that decided she would chew some of the wiring on my mower. Coming off the bottom of the fuel bowl is a harness that has two wires, one black that is grounded to the frame, and one grey that she chewed. This wire was chewed off in the area of the starter. I tried to crank the mower and it would not turn over. I put a connector on the end of this wire and touched it to the power post on the starter and it would turn over but immediately die again. I cannot find a wiring diagram anywhere to see exactly where this wire goes. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Answer
Send me the mower model number, located on a sticker the size of a business card.  The mower model number is usually found under the seat or rear fenders.

I believe the wire you metion is the fuel anti-afterfire solenoid wire.  When the key is in the run postion there should be 12 volts DC on the gray wire causing the solenoid to open allowing fuel to enter the engine.

Send me the mower model number and I check the parts list.
