Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Montogomery Ward Powr Kraft 5HP, powr kraft, briggs and stratton

Question
QUESTION: Hi there
Have just aquired a Montgomery Ward Powr Kraft 5HP 206cc Rotavator - gather that the engine is in fact a Briggs and Staton???

Any idea where I can get parts for this? Spark plug and air filter/box to start with..

Regards

Dave

ANSWER: I imagine it is a Briggs and Stratton.  There should be a model, type and code number stamped into the flywheel shroud/starter housing, either on the side or on the top.  On the off chance it has a Tecumseh or something else, there will probably be either a metal tag with a number or a label with a model number.

I think it will be a Briggs though and if you can get me those numbers, I can get you part numbers.  Thanks, PK.

QUESTION: Wow! Thanks for you very prompt reply! The unit is some 20 miles away - I do have a pic, would that help? Is there any way to send or link to?

Dave

Answer
A picture wouldn't help for most parts.  There's too many different model and types.  You should be able to use a Champion CJ-8 or comparable for a spark plug.

I don't know how to post pictures on here, but you can email them through my website that's listed in my profile if you want.  I may be able to tell you a part number for an air filter from a picture.  Thanks, PK.
