Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GC160 5.5 hp Pressure washer application, small plastic container, honda gc160

Question
My motor will only operate smoothly with the choke in the 3/4 closed position.
When I open the choke, the engine speeds up and slows down, until it finally
stops.  I noted another suggestion that the gas will sometimes leave varnish in
the carburetor, which can be removed by soaking in something.  What would
you suggest for this purpose?

What is Happening the high speed port is got some debris in it. When gas sits in the carb depending how long it has been there the alcohol will evaporate and leave gunk behind. Buy at least 2 cans of carb cleaner and a rebuild kit. Remove the carb from the equipment now most important you need to write down or take pictures of the tear down as when you go to put it back it will have to be put back the same way or else you will have more problems. When you remove all the part find a small plastic container and use the carb cleaner to spray the parts while they are in the container use the container to catch the excess carb spray and then you can let it soak for around 1-2 hours and reinstall it the same way it came apart. One other thing do this in a well ventilated area because the carb spray can make you very sick if you inhale it.Good luck and take pictures.
