Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S mower engine, no spark, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

Question
I have a Briggs & Stratton engine mower (287707-0227-01) that experienced a small engine fire.  The fire was extinguished quickly and the only visible damage was some melted wire insulation and a blown fuse.  The fuse has been replaced and the wiring was taped up but I am no longer getting voltage to the spark plug.  What am I missing?

Answer
You have an ignito type ignition, and every revolution of the flywheel will produce a spark, and the only way to shut down one of those systems is to "ground" the ignition via the small wire plugged into it, and is normally done by the keyswitch, so if you unplug
this small wire to the coil, and still have no spark, then the
coil is bad.
what kills these coils is somehow voltage reaches the coil
through the "kill" wire, so you need to be careful, as with a fire, wiring is likely melted together.
