Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl ms210 wont start, running pop, stihl ms210

Question
I bought a Stihl MS210 a year ago. I had an OAV20P and it was easy to start. I started it 5 days ago and idle was off. When I finished sawing, I sharpened the chain and added gas. It would not start. I put new fuel in, still no start. The L carb setting was off only 5/6 turn open. It does not show any attempt to fire. what do I check?

Answer
These saws are known for cracking fuel lines, so you might want to inspect yours.  Take off the bar/chain, and the air filter,
and squirt some carb spray or fuel in the carb throat, and try to start, if it starts and dies, then you have a fuel problem, if
nothing, then pour out all of the gas, and put in a new plug, and
pull the rope several times and see if you get any kicks, in case the
old plug was fouled out by flooding.  After pulling for a while,
the engine should be dryed out enough to try priming it again, and if it starts then dies, then re add some fresh fuel and try to start,
and see if you can get it to run, if so let it run a bit without the air filter, and while it is still running, pop the filter back on and see if putting the air filter back on makes the engine slow way down.  If so, clean it thoroughly or replace it.

If after all of this, still nothing, then remove the muffler
and look directly at the piston, and see what it looks like,
actually it is not a bad idea to make it the first step.
