Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper moweer, fuel tank cap, steering locks

Question
I just purchased a Snapper rear engine riding mower.  Everything works fine except when you make a sharp left or right turn the steering locks up. Do you have any idea whats wrong?  M/N M280917B  1998 mower

Answer
The steering bushings are mostly plastic on these models and likely
need replaced.  The nice thing about these mowers, is that the
bars sticking up in the rear are to stand the mower up on it's rear
so you can work on it.  The fuel tank cap has a little screw down
breather that can be closed so the fuel won't leak, you just have to
keep your eye on the battery, some will leak when tilted.
Once up in the air, you can get a good look at the front end.
