Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S 8 HP Leaks gas, craftsman chipper shredder, hp model

Question
I picked up a Craftsman Chipper/Shredder that has a B&S 8 HP Model 190432, Type 6117-01, Code 92093010. When I got it home I pulled it a couple times to make sure that the engine turned. The gas tank was bone dry. I filled the tank and tried to start it and noticed that fuel was leaking down the float bowl and into the air cleaner tube. I'm mechanically inclined but I don't have a lot of experience with small engines. I haven't taken anything apart yet. Where do I go from here? Thank you. Darel

carb
The carbs are notorious for flooding and leaking, which is why
they usually have a shutoff valve, I have rebuilt many, that still
decide to leak from time to time when sitting.

In general, carbs have a float which raises up when the carb is
full and a needle seats and shuts off the flow, and as the fuel is
used the level drops, and the float lowers and lets in more fuel, and so on.  So you will need to replace the needle and maybe the float.  Attached is a blowup, and the part number 142 needs to come out before the top of the carb can come off.
