Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD carb setting, mtd lawn tractor, john fish

Question
Hi, I read your fine carb tuneup guide, thanks!  I have a couple year old MTD Lawn Tractor Model #760-779 which starts with a bit of starter fluid, but quickly stalls. It appears to have the single screw you note in your guide. The screw appears to have a 180 degree turn ability and I don't want to force it. Any tips or know where I can peek at a service manual? Thanks, Mike

Answer
Sorry, what you read was done by another John, I have only been here a few months.
If it will fire but die on starting fluid, either your carb is clogged, fuel pump, if it has one is not working, or the fuel shut-off solenoid, if it has one, is not working, it would be on the bottom of the carb and have a wire or two plugged into it.
So I know what you have, if you could give me the engine's model numbers, I would be able to help you better.
