Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 790r Ryobi clutch removal, piston damage, rope trick

Question
I like your use of grade 8 bolt to hold piston down. Tech rep at MTD said to stuff rope in cylinder to do this stop action. I will try this rope trick, of course leaving some rope outside spark plug hole in order for retrieval. What's the chances of piston damage with a grade 8 bolt? You have done this umpteen times, so I expect the fly wheel does come off fairly easy by unscrewing it in same direction as rotation, you say? Thanks for your comment.   GERALD

Answer
I don't understand where people have gotten the idea that I gave
some of this advice, but I am new here, only been doing this a couple of months.  I would never recommend using a bolt as a piston stop, use the rope trick.  If you could get back to me and let me know where you read that I gave this advice, I would appreciate it.  I just discovered the other day that my online name of "Fish" was not
used, which I have used online for 9 years.

Thanks a lot,

Fish

Like I stated before, I never have advised anyone to use a grade 8 bolt as a piston stop, so I guess for not claiming that absurd idea as my own, I get a grade of "5" for knowledge.

One would expect at least a grade of "8", ehhhh????

Thanks again.
