Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD165, kawasaki engines, electrolytes

Question
I changed the engine on my 165 JD to a 185 JD both are Kawasaki engines. Now for some reason the battery keeps losing charge. Any ideas?? Thanks Steve

Answer
Hello Steve, when the battery is placed in a closed circuit, such as, when the starter is being operated, a surplus of electrons at the negative post will flow to the postive post. As the current flows, the battery begins to discharge. You might need some electrolytes in the battery.
