Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro z-turn problem, engine tachometer, diget

Question
The mower runs fine but when I engage the blades the motor hp cuts in half and it will hardly go,  It idles fine and runs good but if I have the blades going and enve up a slight incline it will not go.

Answer
Does the engine sound like it is running fast enough before you engage the blades?  The best way to check the engine speed is with a small engine tachometer.

Are the blade bearings wore or seized causing them not to turn freely?   Is any lodged in the blades or under the deck?

What model do you have?  The model number will be located on a sticker about the size of a business card.  The model number should be a 5 to 6 diget number.

Let me know.
