Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): rear wheel removal, cotter pins, wheel tires

Question
I have a 1987 john deere 130 lawn mower that needs new tires. What is the correct procedure to remove the wheels from the tractor without damaging them? Thank you

Answer
Hello Paul, generally on riding lawn mowers front tires are smaller than rear tires, because the rear tires are connected to the drive components. On most riding lawn mowers the wheels have a replaceable bushings. Push mowers rear wheel tires are easy taken off, some have caps others just have cotter pins. Many manufactures recommend not to lubricate bushings. I hope this will help you! Let me know what happens.
