Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 12.5 HP 40 in Murray, jumper cable, clutch pedal

Question
I have a 12.5 / 40" Murray and the model number on the back
plate is 40702x92B.  I have a good battery, good starter,
new ignition switch and new solenoid.  It still will not
even turn over. I can connect the jumper cable to post on
starter and it turns over.  Not sure if I have solenoid
connected correctly or if the kill switch in the seat it
good or bad. Help.

Answer
there are a few more switches  in addition to the seat switch that you need to check.  There is one on the brake/clutch pedal... sometime under the tractor very hard to get to.  There is another on the blade engagement rod and there is also one on the shift lever/transmission..

you will need to check each of these switches.   TIP... its usually the clutch interlock switch.

IF all these switches are in working order you should have a complete circuit and your tractor should start.

IT may be frustrating to find this, but check each switch one at a time and you will find the cause of your tractor not starting.
