Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens with a Tecumseh 7 hp engine, speed nozzle, tecumseh engine

Question
Hi I recently bought an ariens rocket tiller with a 7 hp tecumseh engine, looks to have a series 1 or two carb on it
the engine did not run, but I cleaned the carb and now it will start and idle smooth but when I try to give it some throttle it dies, I think the float is not set correctly, do yoy have the specs to adjust the float on this, or do you think it's something else? HH70-140038C SERIAL# 5245D
It looks to be the origninal lauson Carb on it.

Answer
The float needs to be level.  Make sure it is parallel to the carb body.

I don't think that you have a float problem however.  It sounds as though the high speed nozzle is still obstructed.  A carb repair kit will have all the correct parts in it you need to repair it.  It will have a new nozzle, main jet, gaskets, etc.. This would be the best way to fix it.

To properly clean your carb, you need to completely disassemble it, including the welch plugs, soak it in a commercial cleaner and probe all the holes with a soft tag wire to make sure they are clean and unobstructed.
