Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small mower - 5.5 hp, adjustment screws, carberator

Question
I have a Sears 5.5 hp push mower that will start when I put a small amount of fuel in the cylinder, but then immediately quits on me. Do I need a new carberator? Can I just get a kit and fix it, or what?

Answer
Hello Roy, many things come to mind when repairing a carburetor.Try this clean your spark plug so that you know that you will be getting a decent spark. Secondly, if it starts all the time then it should be ok. For the carburetor you have three adjustment screws high, low idle try making adjustments when the engine is running. It takes fuel and air to make an engine run. Let me know what happens!
