Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton, lubrication system

Question
I have a new push mower I have only used once.  It ran well and then when I went to use it the second time, it would initially start and would not stay running.  When I took off the air filter, it had oil in it.   It is starving for gas.  If the initial oil level is wrong, will this affect the gas?

Answer
Hello Drew, the answer to your question is yes. However, make an adjustment to your jets;the engine has to be running to this. And for the oil level, the better the lubrication system the more power will develop and engine life will be greater. You do not want to experience blow by especially when the mower is new. When gases are compressed they are reduced in volume. It takes air and fuel too make an engine run
