Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): GX160, 5.5hp, Honda, honda gx160, time is money

Subject   Honda GX160, 5.5 hp,w/CAT Pump
Question   The engine is on a pressure washer. The engine will only run at full throttle and when the load is removed it surges, if the throttle is reduced to idle it will only run with the choke about 3/4 closed. I have removed both jets and cleaned them-you can see light through all of them.

there is still an obstruction somewhere in the carb... I suggest replacing the carb with a new one.  Time is money after all.  If you decide to clean the carb, make sure you completely disassemble it, soak it in a commercial carb solution and probe all the holes and blow out with compressed air.  on the obvious side of things...you do have clean fresh fuel in the tank right?  No water?  Just checking
