Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): husky20hp rider no spark, safety interlock, plug wires

Question
I just put a new starter, solinoid, coil on.I ran it for the day on and off,ran great. I went to start it again and it would not crank,I had to push on the foot ped.really hard to get it to crank then it would start. so I bent the part that push's on the safty switch. cranks great but now I have no spark out the plug wires I have checked all the safty switches and they seem to work. is there  a reason that they may work but not transfer power?or could I have fried my coil again? I have the coil at 12 on the gap but it is just like before I changed the coil.can a coil be tested?

Answer
Yes a Coil can be tested.  But very few places are equipped to test a coil

Lets isolate the safety interlock system from the engine to determine if its a tractor related problem or an engine problem.

Disconnect the black wires from your ignition coil and try to start the tractor.  If it starts and runs, you have an interlock problem, not a coil problem.  Try this and get back to me.

Happy Wrenching!
