Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda 2113, turning the key, auto shop

Question
Hi, My 2113 Honda went flat and stupidly I try to jump the ride on BUT I did it the wrong way (red to black and vice versa)? Now my ride on won't start but keep buzzing when turning the key to start it? Can you advice?

   I have heard it is possible to reverse the polarity of a
battery, but I have not seen it.  I would remove the battery, and if you did not have a multi-meter, take it to an auto shop store
and have them test it.
   I have seen mowers with the battery on backwards do what you are describing, the "buzzing" noise was the starter turning backwards,
the gear won't jump up to engage the flywheel.
