Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): PoulanPro 295 chainsaw, costly repairs, emergency brake

Question
I use my chainsaw around my residential property, so it is not in constant use. The kick back device near the muffler is actually melting. I have never seen such a thing? Have you heard of anyone else with this problem?

Answer
I assume your are running your saw with the chain brake activated. Is it melting in a perfect circle pattern?

Pull your handle back towards you to DEACTIVATE it.  Failure to do this will result in costly repairs.  It will take some force to do this, but don't be afraid you wont break it.

You will also notice more power!

It is kinda like you are driving down the road with your emergency brake on!

Did this fix it??? I appreciate your feedback!
