Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): stihl model 046, correct oil, oil tank

Question
I bought this chainsaw used and it doesnt seem to be getting enough oil to the bar. Other saws ive had usully run out of fuel just before the oil is gone. This one however has about 1/2 tank of oil left when fuel is gone. Is there some sort of metering pump that can be adjusted?

Answer
Hello Mark:

>>The Newer Chainsaws have a Smaller Oiler Orifice and they Do Not Oil the Bar Properly.
>>You have to Carefully Drill Out the Oiler Port Slightly Larger Until you have the Correct Oil Going to the Bar.
>>I Usually Drill the Oiler Port and Use the Saw Until the Fuel Tank is Dry and then Check the Oil Tank. If the Oil Tank still has Too Much Oil Left, then I Drill to the Next Size Up and Continue to Do this Until I have a Close 1 Tank of Fuel to 1 Tank of Fuel Mix Ratio.
>>Like you I Prefer to Use 1 Tank of Oil to 1 Tank of Gas. This is Usually the Correct Oil for the Bar and the Bar Does Not Wear Out Prematurely.
>>They Do Not Sell a Larger Office to Replace the Smaller One. I  have Inquired to Stihl Several Times and they Say the Bar Gets Enough Oil with the Orifice the Size they have Installed and No Other Size Orifice is Required.
>>I have Preformed the Procedure on Many Saws Over the Past 5 to 6 Years or More and have had No Problems.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
