Nissan Repair: Change fan belt 91 Nissan pick-up, center bolt, tensioner pulley

Question
I own a 91 Nissan pich-up.  2wd, 2.4L, 4 cyl.  No a/c.  No power steering.  How do I change the cooling fan/alternator belt?

Answer
Reed,

It is a pretty simple process where the adjustment for tightening is.  Loosen the 14 millimeter center bolt of the tensioner pulley and get a 13 millimeter socket and loosen the long bolt that adjusts the pulley until you can get the old belt off.  Make note of the tightness of the old belt and when installing the new belt tighten it until you get the same tension.  Press on the long side of the blet and you should have a half inch of deflection.  When you loosen the center bolt you do not have to remove it all the way.  Just a few turns will allow the adjustment with the long bolt that it slides on.  When done tighten the center bolt and you are done.
