Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): old jcpenny lawn or garden tractor, model 1853, allis chalmers

Question
QUESTION: Dear sir, I have an old jcp garden tractor, need help identifying it. Cannot find ID plate anywhere on it. It has 531cc on the side of the hood and very small text above the pinstriping jcp75. It also says it is hydrostatic drive, hydrualic lift arms and a pto are also present. It is the original mustard yellow color and the grill seems to be heavy cast aluminum for counterweighting purposes. Any help with its maker would be appreciated.Regards, mitch

ANSWER: Hello Mitch:

>>From your Description it Sounds like you have the Allis-Chamlers (Simplicity) Garden Tractor made for JC Pennys.
>>Simplicity was Purchased by Allis-Chalmers Sometime in 1965.
>>Here is a History Page for your Viewing. It May Assist you Also.

QUESTION: thank you for your quick response. I've already been to that site and many others prior to finding you, there is no similarity with mine other than the color. Did find a faded saftey sticker under the hood that says model 1853 and can't be sure but I think it says ser(146-990-101). If this is any help? If not I will try to get a photo uploaded to send, my cameras on the fritz. Many thanks and god bless, M.Wilson

ANSWER: Hello Again Mitch:

>>Go to this Site Addy, Please; http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp  and Under the Product Line Tab, Scroll Down to JC Pennys and Select it. Now Open the 1985 Model File.
>>According to my Microfiche (I located an 1853B model) you May have an MTD Model made for Pennys in the Later Part of 1982 or Early 1983. I am Attempting to Locate a Missing Film that I Believe May have your Model on it. I was Assuming that this Unit was an Earlier Make than the 80's. I had Another Question Pertaining to the JC Pennys Lawn and Garden Tractor Just before I Answered this One and it was an Earlier Model. I Apologized for Assuming.

QUESTION: Hello again sir, visited the site and again did not find a match. Was able to get a couple pics hope they can help with a positive I.D. Flipped it up and got the # of the tranny (peerless mod D2503)got the # codes of the engine 326431 0204-1 7510141.Was able to find a 1975 mtd farm king that came with same motor/tranny.Could this be it? can't be sure cause in the pic the tractor was red and side view only. The side angle did show what appeared to be the moulded aluminum grill that allowed for altenator clearance. Hope this info and the pics can finally solve the mystery. Thank you for all your help and patience. Regards, mitch.
