Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Bolens 524 Snowblower Bearing Part Number, chipper shredders, customer service phone number

Question
QUESTION: I have a Bolens 524 2 stage snowblower. The bearing right behind the blower is trashed. I do not have a part lists. Do you know what the part number is so I could order a replacement. It is an old machine (1980) but it still works great, until recently.

Thanks,

Bob

ANSWER: Hello Bob:

You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Home_Bolens_10101_19502_-1 and Select the Use Our Detailed Parts Finder. Then Enter the Model Number and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model. Bolens is an MTD Product. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Generally the identification tag is on a part of the unit that, even after years of use, rarely needs replacement. For most of MTD power equipment, these tags are approximately 2" by 3" in size. They also have the MTD Products name, address and customer service phone number listed across the bottom. For hand held product, the tag is normally white and approximately 1" by 1/2" in size. Hand held i.d. tags are normally on an aluminum portion of the engine, somewhat set into the unit to protect the label from wear. (A bar code will also be on this tag.) Riding mower tags are located on the underside of the seat. For walk behind mowers this tag is found either on the deck or on the rear door of rear discharge units. Tiller model and serial tags are generally on the tine housing. **The model and serial tags for two-stage snow throwers are located on the bottom of the main gear housing which is often called the belly pan, while single stage snow thrower tags are next to the key and primer. For other products like log splitters, chipper shredders and edgers, tags can be found on the frame or main housing.** Thanks.

QUESTION: John,

I finally found a parts list for my snowblower off ebay and found the replacement bearing (P/N 1185809 replaced with P/N 941-3006). But I have a second problem. The bearing housing was damage. The P/N is 1734872 "Bearing Flange" which is on the impeller side was damaged and is unusable. The mating side P/N is 1734735 "Flange Bearing". It is OK, but I would like to find a replacement for both sides. I found no luck searching the Internet. A local small engine repair place is ordering me a flange that will fit my bearing but, I'll have to drill holes and mout studs to match my exising ones. If you know of any place I can get one to match my original, I would prefer it as the flange I've order is only costing me a few dollars.

Thanks,

Bob
