Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 8 HP Kohler, hp kohler, cylinder walls

Question
I hate to say this but I ran my Kohler 8 hp k181 out of oil and I think the connecting rod broke. I can spin the crankshaft but the piston doesn't move. I tried to push the piston down through the sparkplug hole but it didn't move. Does that usually mean the motor is done or can I rebuild it? If so can I just put a new rod piston in it assuming no big damage was done to the walls of the cyl.?

Answer
Hello Eric:

If the Piston will Not Move, then Most Likely it is Siezed to the Cylinder Walls. I Suggest you Either Purchase a Short Block or a Complete Engine. Rebuilding is Not an Option if the Piston is Not Moving in the Cylinder. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.kohlerplus.com/login.asp and Select Enter as Guest. Now Select the Thumbnail of the Engine Catalog you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps.
