Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Gas Leak, trouble shooting guide, tillotson carburetor

Question
I have an Ariens 2 cycle sno-thro with a tecumseh carburetor that leaks gas around the bowl in one spot.  I have taken it apart 3 times and the gas is still leaking.  What am I missing to get this problem fixed?

Answer
Hello Dave:

Depending on the Make and Model of the Carburetor; it May be as Simple as the Bowl O-Ring is Bad or the Float Level May be Set too High and Require Resetting. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf  .  This Site Addy; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/Tecumseh/tmain.html has a Link to a PDF Trouble-Shooting Guide. Simply Select the Free PDF Download for the Tecumseh Trouble-Shooting Guide. If this has the Tillotson Carburetor, then You can View a Breakdown of the Carburetor at this Site Addy http://www.tillotson.ie/ and Download the Flash Player. Then Enter the Site. Now Select Tech Info. Now Select Service Manuals from the Drop Down List Under the Tech Info Tab. Your Carburetor should be in the HU or the HS Series Manual. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Mower and the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
