Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Jacobson 320e, free snow, select shop

Question
The question I have is that I just got a free snow thrower and I had to tear it apart and rebuild carb, clean ign. pick-up all the basic stuff. The unit start right up however it seem to run wide open. Now either I messed the govenor setting up or there is a spring missing as there is remenance of a spring on the linkage that goes from the covenor arm to the linkage plate on the carb. I also do not see a idle screw and I see one screw for setting?? I am not sure if it is high speed or what?? What do you suggest?

Also the electric start was working and now when I hit the button it instantly trips the breaker. What do you typically see here? Is it the motor or the contactor piece that send the signal from the button?

I can provide pictures if needed...

thanks in advance...

Answer
Hello Justin:

From your Description it Sounds like the Carburetor is a Throttle Free Carburetor. This is a Design that Automatically Raises the Engines RPM as the Load Requires. It Should Idle and when a Load is Applied to the Auger, then Engine Speeds Up Automatically. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit or the Make and Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Electric Start Sounds like the Starter Requires Cleaning and Lubrication or Possibly Replacing. Have the Starter Checked at you Local Electric Supply Store (they can Tell you of Someone that can Check it if they are Not Able to Do So). You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.wfmiller.com/home.asp and Select Parts from the List at the Top of the Page. Then Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Now Select your Model and Double Click on it. Now Select the Section you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
