Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Charging System, ac volts, digital multimeter

Question
Thanks for your help regarding the engine swap/charging system on my Kohler 14's.  According to the link you provided I need to test the stator for AC Volts and DC Amps.  I'm pretty sure the digital multimeter I have doesn't read amps.  According to the test, if the AC volts test doesn't give the proper reading then the stator is bad.  If the DC test doesn't pass it could be the stator OR the rectifier, correct?  Do you know how many volts I should be looking for on this Kohler 14 w/ 15 amp stator?  The test indicates anywhere from 14 - 30 volts depending on which B&S engine.
Thanks again,
James

Answer
Hi Again James:

You are Very Welcome. If the Stator is Putting out Between 14 - 30 Volts, then the Stator is Usually Good and the Rectifier/Regulator should be Replaced. If you are Checking the Stator with the Rectifier/Regulator Not in the Circuit and if the AC or DC Test Doesn't Pass, the Stator is Bad. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
