Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro 826, briggs stratton, serial number plate

Question
Hello John,

I have a Toro 826...I think ? I have a Briggs & Stratton Model No. 190402 Type 0754-01 Code 7206 theres more numbers past 7206 but will have to take off the electric starter if you want. When i search it at Toro master parts it does not show that engine using model 38150.....It has a serial plate on it...I called Toro and they said its not a serial number.....I know its a serial number because its says serial  # on it.....the serial number is 31263 306909   I did find the engine match on Toro using model number 31763 and going by the serial number it comes up a Toro 726 .............   1973 serial range   3000001-3999999 Engine Briggs & Stratton Model No. 190402 Type 0754......could that be?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Mark:

Is it Possible this is a Series Model 526 and Not a Series Model 826? According to the Information you Sent me, this is a Series Model 526 and the Toro Model Number is 31263 with a Serial Number 306909. The Serial Number Plate that Shows 31263 306909 is the Model Number and Serial Number Plate. The Breakdown Does Not Show the Briggs Numbers. It Shows a Replacement Engine or a Breakdown of a Tecumseh Engine that was Also Installed on this Unit. I Suggest you Use the Following Site to View a Breakdown of the Engine Assembly You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: 190402-0754. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select Sectional Index. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Use the Toro Site for the Actual Units (Model 31263) Components. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
