Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Carburetor, tecumeseh, air leaks

Question
Hi. I have a Tecumeseh OHV130. I get gas to the carburetor (pull off bowl and has gas in it), but no gas is getting to the spark plug. I have spark. If i spray starting fluid into the carburetor, it will run. I have pulled the float bowl off and cleaned and blew through all of the holes. The carburetor number is 640065A. I have tried 2 different carburetors. The original and one that came off of a running motor. I'm not sure where else to look. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks, Heath

Answer
First question I have is is there after fire suspension.  This is a small needle valves to shut off the fuel as soon as the key is turned off.  If you have a there will be two wires coming out of the bottom of the carburetor from the bowl retention bolt.  When you remove it you'll notice one needle valve, one neoprene tipped needle, with a spring underneath.  The needle seats in the Main nozzle when current to the switch is interrupted.  If this feature is on this engine you may want to try to run it without the needle and spring and jumping the circuit.  If this feature is not on this engine.  I would start at the intake valves are they operating properly and is clearance set correctly.  Then inspect the manifold for any damage or air leaks.  Inspect the area where the carburetor mounts to be sure it is not warped.  Then disassemble the carburetor completely.  Being sure you remove the Main nozzle.  Use a wire from a wire tie and probe all air and fuel passages and blow them out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Reassemble the carburetor using a new carburetor kit and reattach using new mounting gaskets.  Then work your way back to the fuel source.  Being sure, nothing obstructs the flow of fuel.  Be sure your fuel cap vent is operating properly from there you would go to a fuel pump if there is one and be sure it is operating properly.  If nothing along this troubleshooting path helps you find the problem I would suggest going to a Tecumseh dealer.  I hope this information is helpful
