Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Hydrostatic snowblower, shear pins, honda power

Question
I have a Hydraulic and it wont go forward or in reverse. The wheels and axle
also always spin freely even if I flip the transmission engaged switch or put
the lever in forward or reverse. Is there anything else that I may be missing?
Like a am axle shear pin or dowel of some sort? There is Hydralic fluid in the
canister. It has to be something with the axle because it should not always be
moving freely. Thanks

Answer
Yes there could be sure pins in the wheels I would put it up on blocks pull the wheels or tracks.  If you have Trak drive and check the shear pins.

From there I would follow the linkage from the handle to the hydrostat.  Be sure it is adjusted properly to get full range of movement when engaging the drive.  The other thing is to check the bypass valve this is a manually operated valve on the hydrostat that would allow you to push the unit easily.  If there is linkage attached to this remove it and manually operate the bypass valve.  Reattach linkage when you know, the bypass valve is operating properly.

If I have missed it I would suggest going to the Honda power products website and going through the operators and service manuals.  Most are available on the website to view.  Lastly I suggest contacting a Condit dealer and getting an estimate on the repair.  If this is an issue your dealer should be aware of it and offer the best repair alternatives.  Best of luck on your project.
