Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Snow King engine wont stop running, mechanical switch, snow king

Question
I have a snowthrower with a Tecumseh Snow King engine model HSSK50 67261R with the electric start option.  When I stored it last spring everything worked correctly.    This fall when bringing it out of storage the electric start did not work, only a soft click when pressing the start button.   However, the manual pull start worked as it started with one pull.   When moving the throttle lever to the off position the engine would not quit nor would it quit when the engine key was removed.   I had to shut the fuel off to stop the engine.   I have checked for bad connections to the engine ground and they all look fine.  I can live without the electric start but I would like the engine to shut down properly.  Could the electric start and the failure to shut down be related?

Answer
The wire connecting the ignition coil primary to the shut-off switch has to be dis-connected or corroded.  Follow the throttle control cable to the engine connection.  Is there a wire there?  Make sure the wire is connected and the mechanical switch connection is not corroded.  If the wire is fine then you should remove the engine sheet metal housing and make sure the wire is still connected the the igntion coil.

Let me know what you find.
