Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Installing a self propelled lawn mower belt, self propelled lawn mower, question thanks

QUESTION: I installed the belt (motion drive belt) on my self propelled lawn mower.  The belt broke within 2 minutes of using it.  Why did the belt break?

Depending on the Make and Model of the Mower, Usually the Belt Breaks Due to; 1- Improper Routing of the Belt. 2- A Bad Pulley or Pulley Guide. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.

Thanks for the Model Numbers. The Model Numbers for this Mower are 12A-446B729. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (MTD) and Enter the Model Numbers 12A-446B729. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Select the General Assembly File. Check the Front Baffle and Make Sure it is Not Bent and Rubbing the Belt. Make Sure Both Pulleys are Not Bent and Improperly Catching the Belt During Rotation. Are you Sure the Blade Adapter w/Pulley was Installed Properly (if you had to Lower the Adapter to Install the Belt)?
