Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton Twin Shakes & Shudders, murray lawn tractor, briggs stratton

I have a Murray lawn tractor with a B&S 16.5 HP twin, Model # 42E707,Type # 2631E1, Code # 9903165B, manufactured 1999. It just developed a shake & shudder when starting and stopping. (Mower not engaged) It runs very well (and smooth) at idle and all RPMs above idle. I am hoping someone may have an idea how to troubleshoot this problem, as it sounds like it will turn into an even bigger problem soon!!!

Check the engine mounting bolts.  For clarification, the machine only shakes when the blades are turning.  If this is the case, then start with the deck parts.  Check the belt, blades, and blade spindles and bearings.
