Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Spark on a Toro 36 Walk Behind, kawasaki motor, toro dealer

Question
I cannot get a spark on my Toro, I do not know the year, I will guess at least 10 years old.  It does not have a battery, but it does have a key to activate the ability to start, and it started last week, nothing this week.  I even held the plug in my hand while pulling the starter cord, nothing; even though I expected even a small spark.  This is the Kawasaki Motor on the deck.  I am wondering if it has a magneto and if a magneto fails or can get dirty?  Is there a Condenser?  I cannot keep any of my small engine repair lessons straight, so I am asking the experts.  Thanks in advance!  Tim

Answer
Toro is a safety module may use it is proprietary so you will have to get it from the Toro dealer.  It's located underneath the panel where your key switch is.  If you replaced this it should take care of your problem I think what is happening is is that the safety system is telling the engine you are not in the operators place and therefore grounding out the ignition coil.  I hope this information helps.
