mine has a 5 speed manual transaxle. Is a hydro - - - - - transaxle available as a retro-fit. I am now on my 4th one; I am looking for something that will stand up to the use I give it

I guess my first question would be what is the use you give it?  When the transmission has been replaced has anybody ever disassemble the to tell you why and what failed.  Most of the time what happens is the shift keys break or wear out.  The little keys slide along a shaft inside the different gears in your transmission.  Most people shift on the go instead of using the clutch to fully disengage the input belt prior to shifting.  Although this is an accepted practice there are downsides to it.  I think that when you have to replace this tractor you should look at one with a hydro transmission.  It will probably stand up to what you were trying to do with the mower.  I hope this information will be of some assistance
