Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snow thrower wont start, old man winter, briggs stratton

Question
I own a brand new, never started before, Troy-Bilt Model "Storm 9528" snow thrower (with a Tecumseh engine) that will not start.  I received it for Xmas last year, but due to the lack of snow here in New Jersey, I never had the need to use it. So, I added fuel stabilizer to the tank and put it out in the shed until the cold weather returned. Well, last weekend I pulled it out to get ready for old man winter and found that it will not start. Nothing. No matter what I try, it will not start. I don't smell gas or fumes no matter how many times I pump the primer membrane. It doesn't even sputter or anything. I especially feel like a real dope never having even attempted to start it last year. And now, it being almost a year old, the store where I bought it, Lowe's, doesn't even want to know me. Any advice would be much appreciated. -Thanks

Answer
Why Tecumseh? They are unreliable, and often come with factory defects. It sounds like your fuel is old...a new carb would solve your problem well. If it still doesn't start, a new engine would probably be my suggestion. If it all comes down to this, I recommend Briggs & Stratton. But I think a new carb will work. Don't forget to clean out the old fuel! Hope I helped.
