Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): piston and rings, hp cylinder, mjz

Question
honed my older model briggs 3 hp cylinder out, when I buy new rings' do I use standard type or get the oversized for the piston, thx mjz

Answer
You will have to use oversized rings and it will depend upon how much you homed the cylinder.  If you have an inside micrometer measured the cylinder between the valves and then 90° to that.  If you know the original spec you will be able to figure out what size rings you need.  Don't forget to put crosshatch in it.  Hope this information has helped
