Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Hard starting Kohler, question pool, spec numbers

Question
Kohler K321 AQS  spec#60244D
starts OK in warm weather. VERY hard starting (if at all)in cold weather. Good compression. Good spark(points .020). Ckoke and throttle plates work as they should. Gas drips out of choke throat indicating gas getting TO carb BUT -even with all the cranking- spark plug doesn't get wet. Cranks great. Runs well once it gets started.

Answer
Hello Douglas:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool and I can Only Answer Questions from the Question Pool when I am Not Answering Questions here or at the Other Site I Answer Questions at. From your Description it Sounds like a Low Compression Problem. What is the Compression of this Engine in Cold Temperatures? The Gas Dripping from the Carburetor Throat and the Fact that the Spark Plug is Not getting Wet Indicates Low Compression. There is Not Enough Vacuum on the Carburetor to Properly Draw the Gas Into the Cylinder/s. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Kohler) and Enter the Model and Spec Numbers (K321-60244D). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
