Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Riding mower, honda lawn, truck battery

Question
I have a Honda Lawn mower (rider) Model 3813 (2-cylinder, liquid cooled engine).   when I turn the key...it is dead, makes absolutely no noise, no clicking, no nothing.   I do have power in the battery so it is not that.   I also jumped it direct from my truck to the starter and there was nothing.    Could my problem be the starter or something else?   If it is the starter, do I have to pull the engine to take the starter off?
thanks Joe

Answer
Hello Joe,

I would be careful using your truck battery to jump your riding mower.  The excessive voltage may not be healthy for the engine.

The situation is that the power that is reaching to the starter [the power is actually reaching the starter?] is not causing the starter to engage.  My first thought would be to check the starter.  Is the starter working properly.  Once you can establish whether the starter's working, then you can continue with the next steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Good luck,

Howard
