Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2 cycle engine, needle valve, promblem

Question
QUESTION: I have a Jacobsen PGM 22 inch cut walk behind greensmower with a 2 cycle engine.  It's model number is: A 984 H & it's serial number is: 62238.  The carburateor was flooding into the air filter, so after trying a long time to fix the carburateor I decided to order a new carburateor.  I installed the new carburator today & it still floods into the air filter.  I can't figure it out.  Do you have any advice on what the promblem could be.  Thank you very much

ANSWER: Hello Kanon:

Is the Gas Tank Cap Venting the Tank? There May be Pressure Building Up in the Tank and Forcing the Carburetor Needle Valve to Open and Flood the Engine. If this Unit Does Not have a Fuel Cut Off Valve, then Please Install 1. You will have Less Problems if you Turn Off the Gas Flow to the Carburetor when the Unit is Not in Use. I Suggest you Remove the Carburetor from the Engine and Check the Float Needle Valve. Make Sure the Float and the Needle Valve are Moving Freely. Make Sure the Float is Level with the Carburetor Bowl Seat when the Carburetor is Inverted. Sometimes a New Carburetor Float will Stick a Few Times Until the Coating that Protects the New Components is Washed Away by the Gas Flowing through the Carburetor. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobsencorp.com/ and Select Customer Care. Then Select Parts Catalog. Then Select the OEM Catalog from the Drop Down Window. Then Enter the Information you have in the Fields on the Left of this Page. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: None of that seems to work.  The needle & float are moving freely, but gas keeps poring out the wrong way of the carburateor into the air filter as soom as you turn the gas on. When I take the carburateor off of the engine & hook it up to the gas: the gas goes out the right way like it should go into the engine.  But as soon as I hook the carburateor up to the engine gas pours out of the air filter hole.  I have had this promblem with both carburateors (the old one & the new).  I would appreciate any advice.      God Bless  (Kanon Bloom)

Answer
Hello Again Kanon:

Since the Items I Listed before are Not the Cause and From your Description it Sounds like the Carburetor Float Needle is Not Seating Correctly. I Suggest, if you Purchased the New Carburetor Locally, then Return the Carburetor to the Retailer and Expalin the Problem to them. They should Repair or Replace the Carburetor at No Cost to you. Until the Carburetor Needle Valve is Seating Correctly, the Gas will Continue to Flow as you Described. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
