Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 6 hp briggs-stratton engine, engine model type, briggs stratton engine

its on a old craftsman shreader. the spark plug whole had a heli-coil installed in it and came out with the spark plug. do i have to pull the motor apart to repair it? does the head have to come off?

I would make a trip to you local small engine dealer and see if they have a used head.  Make sure you take the old head and engine model, type and code number.

I do not recommend heli-coils in lawn mower heads as they typicaly come out like yours did.

Replace with a used head and you should be fine.
