Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears/Craftsman Weedwacker identification, sears craftsman, craftsman weedwacker

Question
QUESTION: I was given this old trimmer that looks in pretty good shape, except for the string distributor.
I am good at fixing stuff as long as I know what I'm doing.
I would like to know what I'm working on this time. Can't find any serial/model number anywhere.
I have completely dismantled the unit to find some cues. Here what I've found so far: Carburettor is a Walbro WA-79.Cylinder block has number 28496. Crankcase has 28501. Starter reel has 28488. Handle has 92058. That's it for now. Any help with IPL and owner's manual please?

ANSWER: Hello Yves:

A Model Number would Help me Assist you Better. Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Use the Model Locator Just Under the Model Search Box at the Right of the Page. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor at this Site Addy, http://69.16.165.8/ and Select Service & Aftermarket. Now Select Aftermarket Parts and Service. Now Select the OEM (Sears). Now Select Trimmer. Now Select your Carburetor from the List Provided. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: John,
Thank you for taking care to answer. I didn't explain myself properly. I am looking at model number. Can't find it anywhere on the  trimmer. Has dismantled it completely now. I had already checked the addy with Sears/Craftsman. No help there.
The Walbro link I knew already. No problems there.
Now, additionnal info: timing wheel is Phelon part #10563.
Couples of questions:
-how do I remove the clutch? Puller?
-how do I remove the woodruff key? (I broke the shaft unscrewing the timig wheel.):(
-Oil seals where the shaft enter the engine: removable with a punch? A driver?
And finally, how can I test the ignition module?
Thanks for caring.

ANSWER: Hello Again Yves:

1- To Remove the Clutch; The Following is a "General"  "Chainsaw/Trimmer Clutch Removal" File. **To Hold the Crankshaft for Removal of the Clutch; Purchase a Bolt that is 3" to 4" Long and has the Same Diameter and Threads as the Spark Plug. Carefully Insert the Bolt Into the Engine Until it Contacts the Piston. If the Bolt is too Short, then Slowly Turn the Engine in the Same Direction you are Going to be Turning the Clutch Until the Piston Contacts the Bolt. Now to Remove the Clutch. If you do Not have the Clutch Tool for an Impact Wrench and are Doing this By Hand (no air compressor and/or not the correct socket), then Use a 2" Wide, Flat Chisel and a Shop Hammer or a 22oz Hammer and Hit the Outer Part of the Thick Ear.** 2- To Remove the Woodruff Key; Use a Hammer and Punch. Some of these Woodruff Keys are Half Round and Others are Beveled. 3- I have a Seal Punch Set, but you can Use a Standard Punch Set to Remove them. 4- The Ign Coil is Usually Tested as Follows; Remove the Spark Plug and Wrap the Threaded Section of the Plug with Wire, then Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine Block. **First Make Sure the Plastic End that Snaps to the Plug is Allowing Current to the Plug. Use a Test Light or Multimeter and Check for Fire Behind this Connector (through the Large Rubber like Coil Lead to Plug) for Fire to the Plug whenever there is No Fire to the Plug.** Once you are Sure the Coil Lead and Ends to the Plug are Not the Reason for No Fire to the Plug, then with the Plug Still Wired to the Engine and the Coil Lead Attached to the Plug; Remove the Coil Shut Off Wire at the Shut Off Switch. Check for Fire. If No Fire, then Remove the Cut Off Wire from the Coil (removal of the blower housing required) and Check for Fire.  Turning the Engine By Hand (giving a Quick Twist with the Wrist) is Enough to Make the Coil Fire the Plug. If Still No Fire, then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. If Unable to Test the Ign Coil this Way, then the Coil will have to be Tested at a Small Engine Service Center or Some Automotive Repair Centers have a Tester for the Ign Coil. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Well, the woodruff key was simple to remove thanks. As for the clutch, it's still there. If you look at the parts diagram, you'll notice that there is the wire driver attached to it. I need a puller. Ignition coil is o.k.
I finally found that this craftsman model is in fact a Poulan 1600s (17").
Thanks for your help.
BTW any idea who made this other trimmer?:Homelite ST-160.
UT-20530. Trying to find a muffler.

Answer
Hi Again Yves:

WOW, Did I Ever Misunderstand the Original Question. For that I Apologize. 1- The Sears Trimmer: The Clutch Drum has a Small Torx Screw in the Center Drive Hole that Holds the Drum to the Clutch Assembly. Remove the Torx Screw and the Drum Pulls Off and the Clutch Assembly can then be Removed. If you do Not have the Clutch Tool for an Impact Wrench and are Doing this By Hand (no air compressor and/or not the correct socket), then Use a 2" Wide, Flat Chisel and a Shop Hammer or a 22oz Hammer and Hit the Outer Part of the Thick Ear in the Same Direction that the Engine Turns During Operation.** 2- The Homelite Trimmer: This Trimmer is Manufactured by Ryobi and Ryobi is a Kimsan Product. If you are Looking for Parts for this Unit I Suggest you Use the Provided E-mail Addy to Contact Kimsan and Request the Part or Information on where the Part can be Obtained. E-mail: sales@kimsan.com . Their Site Addy is http://www.kimsan.com./services/services.htm . This Company is Located in Singapore. I have Other People Contact them and they had the Parts they Requested within 3 to 5 Weeks. Once Again I Apologize for the Misunderstanding. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
