Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower wont turn over, air passages, combustion chamber

Question
I have a gas-powered rip cord 3.5 hp mower.  Model# 11A-020B752 subsequent numbers 1691140. The engine will not start.  Rip cord pulls, turns over but does not start. Spark plug seems fine.  Any ideas?

Answer
Normally if you have spark then the problem is fuel related.  I would doublecheck be sure you do have good spark.  If there is not it could be a loose ground or bad coil.  If not ignition and fuel is not getting to the combustion chamber.  I would remove the carburetor and clean it and put in a carburetor kit remount the carburetor using new gaskets.  Clean the fuel tank and fuel filter equipped.  Adjust the throttle and choke for optimum operation.  When the carburetor is a part be sure to clean all the little fuel and air passages using a wire from a twist tie and blowing them out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Please get back to us is does not help
